Dear Friends,
As we begin our online experience, I would like to initiate a conversation on Mary Southard's art, "Beams of Love" that we have chosen for our logo. It seems to carry the essence and spirit of these Little Design Communities. We'd love to hear your thoughts and impressions on how it speaks to you?

That central beam of light strikes the centre of my heart. The Little Design spirituality is so simple, yet so profound that it can be lived simply and yet, continues to invite to growth. I bow when I pass by it in my downstairs! The Spirit of my Eternal Beloved, the One who makes me Whole, meets me there, right at the centre of my being. It has left an indelible mark on my soul!In the center of the "dancing" community is that same beam, wider and larger.Thus.it is the same light that "sparks" the community with Love.Oh, yes, join in the dance!

I watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics 2012 and I have been struck by the symbolism they used for the finale. It reminded me of the Beams of Love image we use for our Little Design Communities. All the different countries carrying into the arena their individual cauldrons and then they are lit and all placed together in a cirle that rises up making one huge Olympic flame. It was very moving and I hope that all our small Little Design community flames can come together and set off a circling of the world in one grand celebration of this Divine Love that gathers us all together as one Mystical Body.

I was looking for some spiritual reading last night and found my book on Contemplative Prayer by Thomas Merton. In the forward, Douglas Steere makes reference to William Blake's writing where he starts off by saying" we are put on earth for a little space that we may learn to bear the beams of love". "Here in this last firm reminder are hints both of man's longing for exposure to these "beams of love" and yet his fear of what may be involved to come within its transforming power." It goes on to talk about prayer,"our openness to be changed, our readiness to be surprised, yes astonished by the "beams of love." (From page 9) Just enjoying the book again and it's timely message of contemplation and prayer, especially for our Little Design communities.

0,yes, our longing to be transformed and our fear to allow the transformation! The Little Design has a solid practical base:to learn to love more and more;to be "rooted and grounded in love"(Eph. 3:17).Yes, letting Love love in and through us will enable the ever-growing expansion. The small faith community that is the Little Design community, through especially the sharing of the heart which we do every time we gather, will be the support and the companionship in our transformation. In and among us, the Spirit will be present in surprising ways indeed!
