The EMMAUS PROGRAM is designed to create an atmosphere and an experience of spiritual direction - "listening together to God" working within the individual's life experiences. As pilgrims on the common journey of life we companion one another, manifest our hearts and recognize God within the human reality of our lives at any given moment. It is a sign of our times that searching pilgrims on life's journey are seeking out a companion gifted with awakening and quickening the life of the Spirit within them.
The EMMAUS PROGRAM is a response to persons who are experiencing a call to the ministry of spiritual direction. We desire to recognize and cultivate this "gift" and nurture its fruitfulness within the Christian community
The EMMAUS PROGRAM builds community bonds and strengthens those in pastoral service.
The EMMAUS PROGRAM has been offered at the Upper Room since 1989 and eleven groups have completed a two-year formation program.
